Animation Update!


I'm back baby!

I was feeling pretty burnt out for about a week. I'd been working pretty hard at work and working hard on this game at night. It's always just a matter of time. I took a much welcomed break, hung out with a friend and got some guitar practice in.

I rigged and animated the neighbors today. I'll share a little bit of my process building a run cycle.

First, I keyframe the alternate crossing positions. These gifs aren't perfectly looped, btw :)


Then I just start filling in all the poses in between, one pair at a time. I forget what this pose is called, but it's the peak of the run. It's the keyframe where we're airborne.


Then I pose the keyframes between those:



Sorry these are all so jumpy :D
This run is working for me so far. All of the poses feel good. but it's a little robotic. To add a little life, I add secondary motion in the head and give a little twist in the spine.

Now that's a great run cycle! Lil' chub chub.
And of course, I threw it into the game!
